Coming from a universe where billions of years of warfare has recently ended, Ghost, the most feared warlord of the volblkhelians, came to earth seeking the secret to saving his people from the end of their home universe from the hands of the criminals that now have it. He'd prefer to get it at gunpoint, but failing that a bomb would do as well.
Upon arriving on Earth he was met by Mardu; a powerful fighter and in secret one of the most hated people in Earth's history. Mardu was in the process of squeezing information from a a low born noble by the name of Milovitch. Between the three of them they ended a plot by his father Lord Brighton Milovitch to enslave the planet using ancient technology created and left behind by the criminals Ghost was chasing. Technology not only capable of altering DNA, but of also granting nearly unlimited life at the expense of other humans. Upon ending Milovitch's plans and in theory ending his life, Ghost realized in order to set things truly right he would have to spend centuries on earth hunting the criminals down and undoing their influence. The influence his own father, Rel Ghestral, exerted over the minds, wills, and even the genetics of humanity. Reluctantly he accepted Mardu's offer to become the wearer of the green. A title conveying the stewardship of earth.
As part of his perceived job to rectify the damage, Ghost became fascinated with Malon, a girl from a village he and Mardu had saved. Unable to deal with any attention that didn't somehow have fear and loathing behind it, he made her the symbol of his project to change humanity, and even lowered his guard enough to think he was capable of compassion. But Lord Milovitch returned, and in attempt to capture Ghost,  ended up killing her. Ghost, not really understanding the emotions that had been rising up, buried them in favor of undoing the damage done to humanity. He was joined by Milovitch, who had been made immortal by his father as a test of the black chamber.
